    I'm intrigued by your pictures, especially the first one. Is there a story to go along with it? I'm a computer scientist and I'm trying to figure out possible computations of the yupana. Unfortunately, I don't know Russian. So I send this to babelfish--sorry about the bad translation.

    Я заинтригован вашими изображениями, специально первое одним. Там рассказ, котор нужно пойти вместе с им? Я программист и я пробую к давати в численном выражении возможным вычислениям yupana. Несчастливо, я не знаю русского. Так я посылаю это к babelfish--огорченно о плохом переводе.

    This decryption is based on the capac-quipu (ticcisimis) that was published in the book "Exsul immeritus blas valera populo suo e historia et rudimenta linguae piruanorum. Indios, gesuiti e spagnoli in due documenti segreti sul Perù del XVII secolo. A cura di L. Laurencich Minelli. Bologna, 2007; br., pp. 590. ISBN 978-88-491-2518-4"

    By this version the yupana havn't a digital recording and served for the computation of a sacral number and a verification of this number in a song Sumac Nusta (that you may read in Garsilaso): a black stone is a word in quipu, a white stone - the number of a syllable extrapolated from ticcisimis (tocapu), the stone crossed - a auxiliary (not calculated).


    And my drawing of the song's chain (number of syllable in word is white stone, for example: SU-mac - 1 black and 1 white, pa-cha-ca-MAC - 1 black and 4 white, NUSTA - 1 black and 0 white and etc.)

    Is it clear? But why this form of crypting was used by "Blas Valera" in yupana I don't know, and how can record another song or poetry.

    P.S. It is funny, but a week ago one russian scientist was intrested this question too...:))
